From Beijing with love II
EN Let me do another travel post dump from a trip 2 years ago: China! Yes, I am the biggest slowpoke so-called travel blogger ever. Yes, I'm not worthy of calling myself a travel blogger. But I'd still love to show you Beijing, the capital city of China. It's another touristy part of Beijing that I'll be posting about Zhengyangmen and the area around it. Let's take a look, shall we! Laten we eens kijken! |

The Front Gate
Zhengyangmen, the gatehouse and Gateway to and from the Forbidden City and it has an archery tower for protection. What can I say, the building looks huge, massive and sturdy and if I was a member of the Emperial family back in the Ming Dynasty or being some high consort/princess I would feel save in my chambers with this gatehouse. According to Wikipedia Zhengyangmen was first build in 1419.
Since Zhengyangmen is an attraction and museum itself and located next to The Forbidden City, the area is touristy and pretty clean.
前門故事 ❤❤❤❤❤ 4/5
From visiting and wandering around the Front Gate Zhengyangmen with my family, we went to another Front Gate in a form of a restaurant called: 前門故事 - which literaly translated ‘front door story’. Here you can find authentic Northeastern cuisine of China, yum!
I`ve tried my best to Google for their website but I just can`t find it. I blame the authorities for blocking Google.
But who needs Google when I`ve actually been to the restaurant! Here I`ve discovered and tasted new Chinese dishes like mushroom baos, fried chop rice cake and I know sachima (bottom left) and I`ve eaten it alot as a snack but never had a fresh one straight on a plate from the restaurant yet. Yum!
My bao`s: here!
The mushroom bao! After this discovering I`ve attempt to make my own batch at home.
Beef tripe! Or cow stomach. It used to be one of my favourite dim sum until I became vegetarian.
Qianmen street
Qianmen street, an almost 1 km (0,6 miles) touristy pedestrian street in Beijing and I loved this street! This street and the whole area around it is just clean and nice to stroll around with. There are souvenir shops, cafés but also traditional shops that sells silk, tea and traditional robes. And no cars to be seen too except these trams.
Old new, modern and tradition Beijing.
Intersport! I was so surprised to spot an Intersport shop here! We have that here in Holland as well and I thought it was so cool and nice to see something familiar here in China. Later on I`ve learned that Intersport was not Dutch but a French/Swiss company.
Rest of Beijing
On to the rest of Beijing by bus and walking with lots of exploring. And a little pitstop at the convenience shop here and there. Oh how I miss Asian convenience shops.
At an indoor market. And guys I was here way before the covid pandamic.
A pretty mpressive architectural work.
