Sleepless in New York III

Last year on July the 13th my cousins and I went to see The Vessel, The High Line and Chelsea Market!


Vessel
Excuse me for taking way to many photo`s of The Vessel but I can`t help it! This pinecone shaped construction is so photogenetic! I was lucky that Summer for The Vessel to be officially openend up so we could explore it. It is a copper coloured spiral staircase meant to be climbed. Don`t worry there is an elevator available! We were also very lucky with the blue sky weather too as The Vessel does not have any sheltering for when it is raining. Also you can climb The Vessel for absolutely ꜰʀᴇᴇ! The only thing you need is to reservate a slot and you`re good to go.

⌃Hey lift and hey free coffee promo from Coach downstairs⌄
While we went climbing down to grab the free coffee (got the latte with almond milk) we overheard our fellow Dutch people saying: ₕₑy zₑ ₕₑbbₑₙ ₕᵢₑᵣ gᵣₐₜᵢₛ ₖₒffᵢₑ! Yes, we Dutchies love free stuff ha. It`s also nice to hear familiar language in your ears and knowing that you`re not the only Dutch in the Big Apple.
The High Line
Moving on to the former New York Central Railroad spur on the west side of Manhattan in New York City: ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ʟɪɴᴇ!

Anyway there were interesting street art to spot while we were walking The High Line!
I`ve discovered that there`s a Wikipedia page about a 𝐿𝒾𝓈𝓉 𝑜𝒻 𝓃𝒾𝒸𝓀𝓃𝒶𝓂𝑒𝓈 𝓊𝓈𝑒𝒹 𝒷𝓎 𝒟𝑜𝓃𝒶𝓁𝒹 𝒯𝓇𝓊𝓂𝓅. And it`s a long list of the good and the bad.
So that was The High Line, once an railroad for the meat industry transport until 1980 and converted into a park nowadays. It`s opened officially in 2009 and still visited by many people from locals to foreigners.

Chelsea Market
Time to grab food at Chelsea Market, an indoor food hall with markets, local food stands and other dedelicacies. A true foodie playground not just for me but also for my cousins! Apparently Google rents a big part of this Chelsea Market making it the largest tenant of the building.

Num Pang
First stop: Num Pang. Did you know that Num Pang means sandwich in Cambodia? Pretty awesome souding! Here we shared:
- some sandwich which I forgotten the name but it has meat in it
- charred broccoli with garlic
- housemade blood orange juice
According to my cousins it was a good sandwich!
And these charred greenies were SUPER YUM! Thanks to this side dish I make my own version of burned up broccoli at home.
Time to buy food souvenirs for myself and friends.
Dicksons
Our second stop was at a butcher and eatery in one called Dicksons. Here we shared:
- another meaty sandwich (pastrami)
- mac `n cheese
- roasted vegetables
The pastrami sandwich was super salty apparently. The macaroni with cheese was fine but nothing really outstanding. Just plain comfy. I did like the roasted veggies again! Roasting veggies seems to be the winner here in during this whole food trip at Chelsea Market.

    I've never done the Vessel or High Line in New York - looks like I've gotta visit once this COVID stuff is over!

EN Or you can call them ‘scrubbies’ but I use them to create whip cream for my crochet cakes and cupcakes! They also make great home decorations by putting them into a maison jar! Did I just inspire you to make them as a gift for your friend, mum, girlfriend..? I’ll say: go for it! NL Of ze worden ook wel ‘scrubbies’ genoemd en ze zijn bedoeld om je lichaam mee te wassen en te scrubben. Maar mijn versie is klein en dienen ze als toefjes slagroom op mijn gehaakte taartjes en cupcakes! Ook doen ze aardig als huis decoraties bijvoorbeeld in een leuke glazen pot! Ik zou zeggen: maak ze voor je vriendin, mama, GF!  Echt een leuk blij makerij c:    You need:  Cotton yarn or wool ,  crochet hook (cotton = 2 - 3 mm, wool = 3 - 4 mm) ,  scissor ,  needle       I've actually stuffed a bit of stuffing in it.    The Steps: Row 1: chain 11 Row 2: skip first stitch and start with the 2nd stitch (see picture)

DIY: Crochet banana

EN This week is officially my back-to-work week from my 6 wonderful weeks off Summer break. And like always it takes some time to adjust, to get my inner work engine warmed up again and like always take a deep breath. It’s kind of the same feeling going back to school but instead of school it’s work. Yay. Since it’s my first work week and it’s first of September why not kick it off with a DIY post. You know to keep our mind working! And this time I take you guys through another fruity crochet tutorial where this time it’s all about the bananas! Happy bunch of bananas because a banana provides good energy to our body, anti-stress and of course is a good snack for every monkeyheads like us! DIY: Crochet Miniature Cinnamon Rolls

EN It’s holidays and Liberation Days in The Netherlands and with all these delicious day offs, I’ve finally got more time to do my yarn works. And yes sleeping in late is also great. But mostly I’ve been really productive with my yarn works, whereas the most recent ones - the puff pastry/Danish I have received a fair amount of likes and sweet comments on my social media. Thank you! Being productive means also I take effort and time in perfecting my yarn works but not too hard to make luckily! Especially the snail rolls (cinnamon rolls/pain aux raisin) are really easy and fun to make.
