Leeuwarden 2024

When visiting the province of Friesland, you can’t really skip its capital city, Leeuwarden. Fun fact: in 2018, Leeuwarden was named European Capital of Culture. Since R. and I both have the Dutch Museum Pass, which allows us to visit museums for free, we’ve visited a few museums here in Leeuwarden. When in Leeuwarden, you can’t really miss the leaning Oldehove tower You can also enter the tower and climb all the way to the top, which we did. From up there, you get a lovely view over the city. We also discovered some delicious and affordable food spots and spent some time exploring the city center of Leeuwarden.

📍First museum stop: Natuur Museum Fryslân

As the name would suggest, it's a museum about animals and nature.

These mini toilets are cute and fun and teaches us about the different sizes dump animals can make 💩

📍The leaning Oldehove Tower

We climbed all the way to the top.

The view up there is lovely.

A quick sushi and poke bowl lunch. 

📍Second museum stop: Het Fries Museum

An impressive exhibition about the tragic life of Mata Hari.

We got a dining tip from someone to eat at Dax Gastrobar and try their day menu for 12 bucks. I've read somewhere that it was 10 euro first but inflation. The day menu consist of a main with side dishes and I think that's a good deal. 

A coffee dessert, yum!
