The only cookies I accept: warm welcome hotel cookies. Just like DoubleTree by Hilton
πDoubleTree
I'm a hotel girl. Always have been. While I also enjoy the cozy charm of holiday cabins and unique Airbnb stays, hotels are mostly my nr. 1 option. Things like a clean room every day is something I look forward to when I get back to my hotel room in the evening. Same at our stay at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Luxembourg, a 4-star hotel. Here’s a rundown of our experience.
Warm welcome cookie πͺWhile we were getting our room keys, the hotel staff handed us warm welcome cookies—a simple gesture but a perfect way to start our holiday in my opinion. As I was already biased, the cookie tasted delicious! R. gave me his cookie so I got to enjoy two cookies!
Lots of closet space at the doorhall. You can also find the kettle here to make coffee/tea or cup noodles if you want.
The bed was good enough for me, it was not too soft (which I hate) but firm just the way I like it.
When it comes to hotel bathrooms, I have a little ritual that I always follow. Don’t get me wrong—the bathroom here looked clean. But as an Asian coming from a true Asian household, I always give the counter a quick wipe-down with some cleaning wipes I bring along.
Some of the amenities here are shampoo, shower gel, and body lotion. I wasn't a huge fan of their scent.
I brought my own detergent too heh.
Our room also has a sitting corner with a sofa and an armchair with a small coffee table. Honestly, they looked quite outdated. We didn't sit here that much, except! When I watch my guilty pleasure Dutch TV show 'B&B Vol Liefde'. Extra points from me for able to receive Dutch television channels.
There was also a balcony but you can't access it. You can open the windows though which we do every day just to clear out that slightly “thrift store” smell lingering in the room...
Breakfast buffet
The second reason why I am a hotelgirl is the breakfast buffet. To me it's the part of the whole hotel and even holiday experience. DoubleTree do have a nice huge breakfast variety option. It was good, filling but not wow. Some food tasted stale like it had been cooked for a while...
Love the edible cups for storing spreads such as jam.
