Arriving Munich

EN

At the moment I'm sitting at a local café writing blogs and this August month, I've released 4 posts already!! Today's post will be the 5th #soproud.

Yes, I'm having a long slow Summer break of 6 weeks off. Great time to have quality time with my blog and to relax. Hence I'm currently in a café place right now. And like last year it's another staycation one with a few weekends outings to the neighbour countries such as Germany and Belgium. It's nearby and it's nice to have a change of surroundings. I missed traveling a lot you see.

I had Luxembourg in mind too but the Covid-19 is still among us and restrictions change every time. It is stressing me out so I've decided to drop Luxembourg. For now.

For now, I have Germany on the blogging schedule for you guys because last week+ I was in Munich/Germany with my brother and his caretakers for something special called an art vernissage.

Our journey started with a very long train ride.

In the ICE train, a highspeed German train. For some reason, the glass doors reminded me of the trains in the movie Train to Busan.
10-hour
At first, we wanted to drive all the way to Munich by car but at last, we`ve decided to go by train. I was glad it was by train and not by car because the train kind of lifts up the whole traveling experience. There were 4 interchanges in total and I couldn`t get the exact route we took with Google Maps but in total it was a 10-hour journey.
According to the German Covid-19 restrictions, we had to wear these medical mouth masks which made us look like ducks. In the end, they weren`t very strict about the restrictions after all because we saw people wearing different kinds of mouth masks without getting in trouble. Also, checking whether you are vaccinated or shown to be negative is also mild in Munich.
We passed the German city Köln/Cologne.

Just like in a long plane flight, walking and standing is a must. So I went exploring this ICE-train.

Fast or very fast?
In the 10-hour train ride, I pretty much have spent my time with music, eating, crocheting, and sketching in my journal.
We've arrived!
Going to the hotel first with the metro which was surprisingly quite outdated. Yet the retro-ness makes it quite hip again.
Splendid-Dollmann Hotel
One of the organizers of the art vernissage recommended us this hotel Splended-Dollman Hotel. It is a boutique hotel and located near the art vernissage itself and the neighbourhood is quite nice as well. At the entrance, I already love the staircase and the classy interior. I`ve done some research on this hotel before and the rooms look promising!
Let's take a look, shall we?
4/5
The hotel provides slippers and other extra toiletries. But you have to ask for them though because they weren`t standard kept in the room.
No water kettle though :(

Soon after we dropped our luggage at our hotel we went out again for dinner. We arrived pretty late so we`ve decided to eat somewhere nearby. Luckily when we were on our way to the hotel we passed by this Korean restaurant which looked promising!

❤❤❤❤❤ 4/5

Run by Koreans
We have ordered and shared a few appetizers together: dumplings, yachae twigim (fried vegetable tempura), and red bean steamed bun. All vegetarian-friendly options!
Everything tastes hot, fresh and tasty! Just what I needed after a long train ride. As for main I had the kimchi bibimbap. Delicious!
a stroll
After the wonderful Korean dinner, we`ve decided to walk it off and explored Munich by the evening. The temperature was lovely in Munich, not too chilly just simply pleasant. Along the way, we also stopped for ice cream.
Vacation mode is really on from this point.

  1. Yay for travel. Also, I do love traveling by train - so much more romantic than plane travel
