Another year another birthday so happy birthday to myself! This year I`ve baked my own 4-layer birthdaycake from scratch with matcha (my fav) and raspberry flavours. The sweet and slight sour raspberry gives a nice balance to the bitter matcha taste I think. And I think
colourwise they look great together too!

Outdoor lunching when it was still possible and fine at one of my favourite local café with my foodie bestie A.
They`ve got the best flat white in town I`d say.

I’d like an L-, or Z-, or T-shaped tinyhouse on foundation so not on wheels particular. With a nice height and a porch. I like rustic style of homes with plants, a touch of modern but not too much wood please. Below you will find some examples.

My last restaurant visit of this year.
A grilled giant prawn with a big dollop remoulade sauce. You see De Gouden Bock is a restaurant specialised in seafood and this glass fish shaped plate is just so cute!
We also ordered:
- 2 cocktails
- grilled squid with salad from the yard
- BBQ’d cauliflower
- mussles in Thai curry (my fav!)
- lemon meringue pie
- affogato dessert
- fresh mint tea and a cup cappuccino

At work
The last week before the big Christmas holiday was hectic at work. Firstly December is a busy time anyway with the annual preparation making it already stressful but then came the sudden announcement for a complete lockdown. We had to squeeze a week time of work into 1-2 days. It was hardworking but we managed it to make it work and we closed our last days at school with a wonderful Christmas lunch.

    Happy belated birthday Mei :) The cake you made for yourself looks so good, along with the rest of the food in this post!! I love the pictures of the tiny houses by the way, I've always wanted to stay in one. Hope you've been staying safe and healthy lately!

      Hiii Mani, thank you! Yeah, I feel like my layered cakes are getting better and better each year ^__^ so thank you!! I want to stay in a tinyhouse as well just to soak in the feeling of living compact but also free c: stay healthy and safe!! Xx

EN Or you can call them ‘scrubbies’ but I use them to create whip cream for my crochet cakes and cupcakes! They also make great home decorations by putting them into a maison jar! Did I just inspire you to make them as a gift for your friend, mum, girlfriend..? I’ll say: go for it! EN This week is officially my back-to-work week from my 6 wonderful weeks off Summer break. And like always it takes some time to adjust, to get my inner work engine warmed up again and like always take a deep breath. It’s kind of the same feeling going back to school but instead of school it’s work. Yay. Since it’s my first work week and it’s first of September why not kick it off with a DIY post. You know to keep our mind working! And this time I take you guys through another fruity crochet tutorial where this time it’s all about the bananas! Happy bunch of bananas because a banana provides good energy to our body, anti-stress and of course is a good snack for every monkeyheads like us! BIRDY & Griff concerts

The year of 2024 was the year of concert visiting: BIRDY and Griff. That brings my total to just three concert visits in my entire life. Yes, wow,  not that many, ha! I’ve been a big fan of Birdy ever since she released her cover singles Skinny Love and People Help the People , so I was thrilled to finally hear both songs live at the Caprera stage. She sounded absolutely amazing and crystal clear, just like on her studio recordings. By the way, Caprera is a gorgeous open-air venue. If one of your favorite artists ever performs there, I definitely recommend going! My second concert was in Belgium to see Griff live at De ROMA. De ROMA is a beautiful Art Deco cultural center and performance venue in Antwerp. I started to love Griff because she’s half Chinese and half Jamaican, she writes and performs her own songs, plays piano and guitar, and even makes her own clothes from thrifted pieces. Talk about multi-talented, right? She’s still so young, and I’m really rooting for a success...
