My NL Staycation: Breda

EN

My case of Summer 2020 was the summer of staycation. That means I didn`t cross the borders of The Netherlands and stayed inside exploring Dutch places instead. Luckily Holland has wonderful places for me to explore but the world-wanderlust in me was still longing for an adventure outside Holland. You know I had Slovenia in mind!

I guess I'll just keep Slovenia a bit longer on hold.

As I've said before Holland has great places too and because of the current pandemic, I think it's not a bad idea to support local shops, restaurants and business as well! Here I am in Breda.

NL

Zie hier in Breda.

Here is Breda
A short train ride for S. and me to set foot in Breda. I love going to Breda (pronouce: bray-da), it`s a city not to big or small with a big open square with terrace and food places which is probably my favourite feature of Breda.

At Coffeelab
But first chai

I`ve learned that Coffeelab is a coffee chain here in Holland! There are 5 locations in total.

A bird or hen found her home inside a fountain.
Spending money on...
Another feature that I love about Breda are the cute one-man business and their merchandise.
At Puick ♥♥♥♥ 4/5
Lunch!
A sturdy glass shield to make this social distancing in restaurants happening. Inbetween there are plants, peacock feathers, a lost naked baby and other curlicue to be found inside.
We Ordered:
- 1 sharing slow `Puick` dish
- 1 orange juice
- 1 pink ginger lemonade
- 1 cappuccino
We got the sharing plate called `𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒑𝒖𝒊𝒄𝒌` because S. and I wanted to taste as many Puick-dishes as posssible! This sharing plate is Asian inspired and is also vegetarian friendly. The plate took us from central Asia to east, west and back to central Asia. Overall the food was a fine parade for mouth and mind!
A beautiful bottle of pink ginger root lemonade and for starter: flatbread with 𝒍𝒂𝒃𝒏𝒆 (yogurt-ish), hummus, chopped tomatoes and pomegranate.
Here we have 𝒑𝒂𝒑𝒂𝒅𝒖𝒎 𝒔𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒅 with eggplant, spinach, hummus, tomato and dukkah. On the right a quiet flamboyant springroll with spinach, sweet and sour ginger, cucumber, carrot, mango, bell pepper, mint, piccalilli dressing and pumpkin seeds. Personally I think there are too much strong ingredients for a rice paper to handle. A bit milder and more in balance is what I am looking for.
My favourite dish? That`s the veggie 𝒕𝒐𝒎 𝒌𝒉𝒂 𝒌𝒂𝒊!
Spending money part II
I`ve bought a cute long sleeve maxi dress (with pockets!) at J’adore
vintage!
At Sunshine Lunch & Lounge
A little afternoon tea break with pie.
We both got the lemon meringue pie which was delicious! I also got their bubble tea because I got curious and was hoping for the best but sadly it was awful. Note to myself: only get bubble tea from an Asian place.
sun, gin tonic and deep fry
I got a fancy gin tonic with lavender and orange. Yum! S. here was playing and testing the play doh that she bought for her kids.
Yikes we end our city trip with junkfood! But we think it`s fine to end our day with fries and 𝒃𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒃𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒏. Especially after the chock full lunch with vegetables that we had at Puick.
Cake batter and mocha flavoured ice cream to really finish the day.
A little sum up through IG stories.
