Project: Foolproof Oatmeal Crêpes

There was something that I really missed in Hong Kong and that's proper baking. I don't have an oven, a handmixer or even a whisk to start with. I do have an microwave so I guess I could whooped up some microwaved cupcakes, but no! The other day I've made crêpes.

Crêpes are also known as really thin pancakes and are one of those food that are so easy to make, it's like a foolproof thing. Luckily in my HK apartment I have a frying pan, a fork, a cup and a bowl. Lets flip up some crêpes!

The Ingredients
100 ml milk
1 egg
2 tbsp. flour
1 tbsp. oatmeal
Not 250 ml (1 cup), not 230 ml, not even 235 ml but 236 ml milk! Sorry but I just find the measurement precision funny.
How to eyeball the measurement of 100ml milk without the measuring cup? Pour all the milk in a cup! Now you have a better view of the content.
I also don`t have measuring spoons in my HK apartment so I just really did 2 tablespoons of flour like this. And it worked out fine.

The Steps
1. Wisk the egg in a bowl.
2. To eyeball the measuring of the milk: pour the milk in a cup. Now you have a better look of the content. Now pour just the half of the milk into the egg and combine well.
3. Followed up by adding 2 (generous) tbsp. of flour to combine and at last the oatmeal. Combine well!
4. Add oil to a frying pan and let it heat up on medium fire. Add 3 tbsp. of the batter on the pan and spread it out evenly and beautifully.
Bake for about 2 min. on both side.
5. Serve up with your favorite toppings!

  2. Crepes are so yummy! I actually much prefer them to pancakes or waffles even, nice and light. And what a weird quantity of milk!

  3. Yum!! My apartment has an oven, but my roommate and I haven't gathered up the courage to test it out yet. Crepes will definitely be a great dessert to cook up meanwhile :D -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's

  4. Yum! Crepes are my favorite dessert :)

  5. These look amazing! I had no idea you could even make crepes with oatmeal :o

  6. I need to get back into making crêpes! I used to make them a lot at school because we would sell them at school haha. So much fun to make and SO delicious!
