A little medival adventure: Monschau and Reinhardstein Castle 🏰
Another day in Belgium, and we couldn’t resist crossing the border into Germany to visit the charming medival town of Monschau. R. had been there before and promised it was worth it (and he was right).
As a lover of all things medieval, I was curious and would love to see some cool sight seeings. I wasn’t driving either, so I have to go where my chauffeur drove us to. In other words, I got to enjoy my role as passenger princess. Our first stop was Reinhardstein Castle in Belgium, and we got lucky: a beautiful flower exhibition was taking place during our visit.
📍Reinhardstein Castle
The castle itself wasn’t very large and was partly in ruins. Nonetheless, it was still a pleasant visit.
At that time, a beautiful flower exhibition called Castelflora was being held at the castle. The rooms were decorated with all kinds of pretty floral arrangements.
The kitchen.
Near the Reinhardstein Castle was this impressive looking dam.
📍Monschau
I think this town really relies on tourism. Everything is so picturesque.
Photobombed by Dutch tourists, hallo!
At a cute town square.
🍽Zum Haller
Dinner time at a gastropub Zum Haller. Just a great place with a great host. Even though we didn't reserved a table, the host was still able to squeeze a table for us at 5pm! It was very busy, especially because there were only 3 people working there according to the host/owner: the host itself, his wife and the cook. A very well done for that!
I ordered a vegetarian dish with curry and chickpeas. R. chose a true classic German meal: schnitzel, croquettes, and fries.
Yes I know, to many photo's of me with bridges and old buildings #ijustcanthelpit #tourists.
