DIY: Label your own yarn and wool

EN

I think everyone loves having colors whether it is in makeup or food or both and in my case yarn and wool. And when you have a lot of it, it is important to store and organize your colored goods well.

Because I love to work with yarn I have bought and collect lots of balls of these soft threads over the past years and I’ve been trying to store them well.

Like with this laundry hamper for example.

Balls of yarn and wool are usually being kept together with a paper wrapper with info on it and when you use your yarn excessively this delicate paper wrapper will eventually torn.
And you’ll probably throw it away, but not for me!

Maybe this little piece of paper and info on it doesn’t mean much to you but it does to me because of the color name/code, the brand and the type of yarn.
I have lots of red and pink tones and sometimes it is hard to separate them so knowing your yarn profile is nice. Atleast to me.

Therefore this label your own yarn and wool DIY with coffee stirrers and washi tapes!
NL

1. place the coffee stirrer in the center with around a finger length of tape on both side. 2. flip the left side of the tape over the stirrer and meet at the right side of the tape and seal it. 3. write down the necessary info on the tape!

Organize your wool and yarn stash!

  1. These labels are so cute! Friendship bracelet string isn't packaged quite so large, so I think I'll just separate them into compartments of a box :) I'd like to use your DIY as a bookmark or something though! -Audrey | Brunch at Audrey's

  3. Good idea! I should probably keep the yarn profile too, but I usually just toss them.

  5. or you could make a book with the info (or the paper wrapper itself) and a piece of the wool glued next to it :)
