HK/香港 HOTSPOT: The Coffee Academics (best coffee?!)

EN

It all began when I was in Wan Chai - Hong Kong, where I suppose to have a breakfast date with my niece who was over an hour late because my niece overslept. While my niece has finally woken up after my many many Whatsapp and calls, I was still waiting for her and my belly was getting really hungry.
I've decided to grab a quick bite and while I was wandering around Wan Chai I have discovered The Coffee Academics by accident.

The Coffee Academics looked very Western, clean and modern with a strong appeal on the 'gweilo/gwai lo' tourists and lure them in for them to grab an also Western, clean and modern dishes, coffee and even alcolic beverage. Since I'm born and raised in a Western country I felt straight at home at this café.

I had:
1 pepper agave latte
1 egg and mashed avocado on toast + incl. flat white
Pepper agave latte

The Coffee Academics has coffee on the menu that I have never had or heard of. Like this latte with pepper and agave nectar. I`m super adventurous and tend to be daring when it comes to new food so I had to try out this alien cup of coffee.
The coffee was fragrant, hot, strong but pleasantly bearable.
You can taste a hint of black pepper which makes this a whole new coffee experience but where was the sweet taste of agave?
I didn`t taste any sweetness at all! Have they forgotten to add it? Or was it my fault for not asking it? Sigh, but overall it was a good coffee with a bitter upper hand.
Egg and mashed avocado on toast

I love their breakfast menu! It was my 4th week in HK and perhaps I was craving for gweilo/gwai lo a.k.a Western food. Anyway their breakfast menu comes with a free hot beverage as well and so I picked the egg and mashed avocado on toast along with a nice flat white coffee.
While I was looking forward on my breakfast comes the sad news: the toast ran out! Instead, the egg and avocado got served on a piece of long French bun, an alternative that I did not mind at all because it turned out to be a lovely breakfast dish with lovely tangy and vinegary taste after all.

As for the flat white: good cup of caffaine. Nice latte art too!
Getting lost in the café atmosphere
Being crafty in this relaxing interior design and woo, free wifi!
There were actually real good looking pastries and cakes at The Coffee Academics which I will definitely try them on my return to HK.
