Tapas = dim sum? Yum!

EN

After strolling through the beautiful Gracia Festival our tummy got hungry and Damaris and Dani (bloggers from The Cat You and Us) showed me a pretty cool tapas place called Moritz where we had a tapas lunch!

I never really had authentic tapas so I was pretty excited to eat at Moritz as it the interior of this restaurant looks amazing!

Tapas means ‘small plate’ in Spanish with delicacy such as seafood, potatoes, olives, ham and cheeses and many more all served in bite sizes.

Tapas reminds me of the Chinese ‘dim sum’ because they both have
small portions, they are appetizers before the main meal and in terms of ingredient they both have similar usage! Except for the cheese and olive in the dim sum. Also there is more steaming process in dim sum than in tapas.

These two very different cuisine yet a lot of similarities and I love to eat them both.

The Moritz restaurant is a really beautiful
modern renovated restaurant that used to
be an old beer factory. The restored
building nowadays does not only function
as a restaurant but it has a beer museum, a
shop, a bar and a bakery!

We ordered: bravas, bomba, cod fritters, cold seafood salad, mussels and olives.
Dutch: We bestelden: bravas, bomba, kabeljauw beigneits, koude zeevruchten salade, mosselen en olijven.
Delicious bravas, these baked potatoes! I've learned that there are actually 2
types of brava's: brava's in Barcelona style and bravas outside Barcelona or
rest of Spain. They are both delicious and spicy and hot.

Barcelona. Allebei erg lekker, pittig en heet!
Another potato dish: 'bomba' with red pepper chutney
with a minced meat inside. Since I no longer eat meat,
I only ate the potato part which was yum!

gedeelte. Hij is daarmee nog steeds erg lekker!
Thank you Damaris and Dani for
this tapas experience! The food
at Moritz were wonderful and
even though the whole lunch
looks small but o boy I was
stuffed! Well stuffed!

Dankjewel Damaris en Dani voor deze
heerlijke tapas avontuur! Moritz, daar
voldaan!

  1. That is very true, tapas is very much like the whole joint eating (I can't think of the exact term I am looking at) where there is a lot of sharing and trying different dishes. I love tapas actually! Mmmm which reminds me that I should go out for some more soon

  8. Awww it was so nice having you around here! I'm crossing fingers for the next time to be soon, there were so many things I thought afterwards I should have talked about, ha! :) And I have to choose the bravas from here! hahahahha (both are yummy, but!). Love your comparison with dim sum, I guess tapas is more fried and pickle instead of steamed as you were mentioning. Biiig hug!
