Vine Vera - a scam or fan?

EN

Have you heard of beauty brand Vine Vera before? No, me neither until I was in London when I passed a shop/spa and a salesman lured me in with a free moisture day cream sample.
And the salesman whom is a foreigner immediately turned into a cunning selling mode by letting me try on Vine Vera’s peeling treatment on my hand, telling me how big my pores are (gee thanks), the discounts and all the ‘promising’ results and glory of Vine Vera.

It was like a home shopping TV channel but then in real life.

Firstly, Vine Vera is hella expensive!
And the salesman was not giving up in selling me the ‘resveratrol merlot peeling’.

I was trying to nope-my-way-out to all his offer and he finally offered me the peeling for £50 instead £100. Along with a free hand cream, a free spa facial treatment (didn’t go due my short stay in London), a spatula and another handful of free samples - I surrendered.
This is probably my most expensive peeling yet.

The Vine Vera resveratrol merlot peeling claims to be ‘100% natural’ with the main ingredient aloe vera as the salesman told me.
The salesman also told me that it will ‘definitely’ reduce my big pores and remove dead skins leaving a rejuvenate skin. Oh and it’s anti-aging as well.

After I swiped my credit card and purchased the peeling, I was left with an exciting but also bothering and worrying feeling in my belly. I should have researched Vine Vera before buying it.

In the same day I was digging through reviews and found mixed range of reviews on Yelp from extremely happy customers to customers claiming to be scammed. And that’s where the worry in my belly starts to grow even more.

I have decided to research the ingredient list of the peeling. Is it really 100% natural?
Also I’d like to give you my thoughts about this peeling since I’ve been using it for more than a month now. Scroll down!

NL

Ten eerste, Vine Vera is mega duur!

Tongue twisting list of ingredients + function
I have spend a whole afternoon in researching the ingredient list of the Vine Vera Resveratrol merlot refining peeling and it was quite educational and interesting! Again I wanted to know if this peeling is natural as the salesman claimed to be.
Conclusion: the peeling does contain natural ingredients but also chemical ingredients. 100% natural is false.
  • Aqua (water)
  • Glycerin (is natural with a sealing purpose of moisture
  • Cocotrimonium chloride (neutral salt with preserving function, often found in shampoos and conditioner)
  • Peg-100 stearate (cleaning purpose and helps water and oil mix together)
  • Propylene glycol (organic alcohol and enhances the moisture into the skin
  • Carbomer (made from acrylic acid and stabilize and gel forming
  • Pitchia/resveratol ferment extract (I think Vine Vera spelled 'Pitchia' wrong as I can only find 'Pichia' in the www, nonetheless I'm pretty sure Vine Vera meant the same and has an anti-aging function
  • Nut shell powder (a natural and durable exfoliator
  • Disodium Edta (a binding function in minerals and prevents changes to the consistency, odor and texture of cosmetics products)
  • Methylisothiazolinone (or MIT and has a preserving function and kind of shocked me after reading the side effects and being neurotoxic. It can also cause skin allergy)
  • Lodopopynyl Butylcarbamate (a water-based antifungal working, also found in paintings and household products, not suitable for kids under 3 year old
Sources: 1 // 2 // 3

The handcreme was free, along with the spatula and the free samples.

So how did my skin react to the peeling? I apply this peeling once a week and have using it for more than a month now. And I do see results even it's not a dramatic one: my pores didn't disappeared but it faded a bit and I do think my skin looks healthier and radiant in little bits. According to the salesman this peeling will last me for a year so lets see about that!

Overall, the peeling works positive to me but it doesn't worth the money and it aches that I paid 50 bucks for it. I've learned from this experience that words from salesman are just words. Do a bit of homework before purchasing can safe you money and time.

Conclusion: Vine Vera is an overpriced product and reveals little result on the skin. Therefor it is not really a product scam, but I don't say I'm a fan either since the price doesn't weight out the results.

Pros: It works as a peeling and it does remove all the dirty bits, the extra lid, not tested on animals

CONS: it's overpriced, unnecessary exaggerating the ingredients because to me it's just a peeling with just one special anti-aging ingredient (Pichia), it smells like glue, it claims to be paraben (preserving) free but it does contains several preserving ingredients (see list above)

  12. Thanks for the research! I was in London in May 2015 and got " dragged" into the Vine Vera store by an extremely persuading and constantly talkative lady. Usually am a very suspicious of salespersons but she completely bowled me over with her constant stream of talk. And of course she showed me the peeling and I got impressed. But balked at the price, an then she started about how,"as she liked me", I could get a special discount and a face creme too for the same price etc etc. And I, who normaly is a suspicious person fell for it! But as I walked away I got more and more avare that I had been totally ripped of, I had been totally confused by that constant stream of talk and my natural will to please and to be kind had fooled me ! I am an adult and responsible for my actions. I could have just said sorry, ntoo expensive, and walled away. That I, a fairly sensible person, did not do it taught me an expensive lesson. Never again will I complain about people being too gullible and easily fooled. Now I know how easily it is done!
The products! The peeling works well on the inside of the wrist but not on the face where it sticks to my fine facil hair. And since I began using it I have developed Perioral Dermatitis, pustules around the moutharea. I do not know if it is the peeling that caused it but as it appeared three weeks since I started using the peeling ( only once a week) I strongly suspect it to be the cause. So here I sit and feel like the total fool I am, how that saleswoman must have laughed!

    1. I did the same thing paid with my debit card. But I'm not that worried because I don't keep no money in my current account for anyone to draw cash out or do online shopping. Try to keep that account empty with only £1 or less then £5 in there. And transfer the finds when you need then. Download banking app on your phone. And call your bank up to get alerts when money comes in your acc and when money goes out from your acc. And just explain to them the situation where as your a little skeptical about the whole situation. Or even better block your card and order a new one. Wish u all the best.

  14. I was offered the exact same thing! And also ended up paying £50 (except I got the day cream)... the worse thing is she gave me a mini facial whilst I was there and tried to sell me eyecream and eye serum for £200 (a "saving" of £200). I waked away, but she gave me her email address.

I did some shameless social media stalking and found her on Facebook. She told me she was Spanish. She was from Israel. Found her on LinkedIn. She told me her background was in the spa industry. Her background is in sales.

Do not believe their sales people they are full of lies!

I checked their Facebook page, as they have weekly competitions for lots of giveaways. Yes, a luxury brand giving away their products every week! If only Mulberry and LV did thst too! Anyway in order to enter the competition, you can enter multiple times to increase yoyr entries.

The standard follow on Instagram, Twitter, subscribe to newsletter etc. are there. However, you can also review the product (note: reviews containing "I have never tried this product" will not be accepted! - which would explain the multiple 5 star reviews in my opinion). For +5 entries you can write a TripAdvisor review for their stall in America. It's laughable because if you read their reviews, all 5 stars however all the contributors only have 1 review, and some even say "I really hope I win this prize"

I have posted my findings to their Facebook page, which they didn't take kindly too... they deleted my comments and blocked me when I messaged to ask about it!

I'll say no more.... but ask yourself, can you trust a "luxury brand" that offers different prices very time, gives away their products weekly, and condones fake product reviews?

  15. This is part 1 of 2 of my review of Vine Vera:

I had a very similar experience to you in the Bullring kiosk in Birmingham, UK. I am usually very suspicious of sales people, however for some stupid reason I was tricked!
Sales consultant handed me free sample, and insisted I come over to test the products. Tried the peel and day cream. She touted some stuff about the anti-aging agent found in the product. She then offered me the products for £100, of course I said no, then she said she can give me 50% if I take the offer today! I said no again.. then she said she'd throw in a free hand cream, samples and a free facial today, as well as in the future. Then I thought a facial at a spa costs around £20, which technically means I'd pay only £30 for the day dream (which is about the price for a Clinique face cream, for example). So I said, okay.
Then onto the mini facial: where she tried the face mask, face serum, eye cream and eye serum. During this experience, she told me that she was from Spain and her background was in the spa industry so she really is an advocate for this product! Also, she said I had really great skin except for my bags (thanks! but true, only that day I'd left the house without concealer...) anyway, the eye cream and eye serum "RRP" is £400. I declined her offer of both eye products for £200.

Final offer she said, eye cream for £100. I said no. Another point I'd like to make is she said that with the eye cream I would see instant results! I couldn't tell the difference personally... and when she was showing me she'd only show me one eye at a time, and she did this around 10 times. She wiped the face mask off me after I declined to buy anything else and told me to remember to phone back in a few days to book the facial.

After my ordeal and my realising my stupidity of having spent £50 on a face cream!! (I'm a student... ever grateful for my overdraft!!!) I decided to Google the company to find out more. I would have done it earlier during the sales pitch but she never gave me a chance to intercept during the conversation... I then found several similar accounts to mine of the company using highly aggressive sales techniques, and also people have allergic reactions to these "hypoallergenic" products.

  16. You might as well spend your money on Creme de la Mer. You can get a their face cream for £100 - and guess what, the price will never go down! That's the price you pay for luxury!

Not £100, down to £50, then down to £12.50! That's right, psssttttt if you don't give in and stay talking they will offer you the extra special price of £12.50.

  17. Same thing happened to me today! I did only pay $40 USD for it, which to me isn't terrible since I spend roughly that on my current skin care products, but the man was very persuasive! Thinking I'll throw it on eBay for someone who enjoys the products. I always do my research before I put anything on my skin and for some reason I said yes! Kicking myself in the butt for it now. Glad to hear it's not a terrible product, but sad that it isn't great. Thanks for the helpful article!

  22. Hi! Today in Sliema, Malta I`ve been stopping by salesperson who was standing at the front of the Vine Vera store. She gave me "a little bag" with Day Cream and invited me into the store. There, after talking a lot about how big my pores are she put peeling and serum on my hand. She put even eye serum under my eye but she focused more on the peeling and serum to my face. It was a really long discussion about products and prices. She offered me peeling and serum for 375 euro and free treatment (mask) on my face after one month. When I said that it was to expensive she offered me 175 euro. I almost paid but something kept me awake. I said that I had to think and left the store. On my way home I was thinking all the time about it and decided to go back next day to get those products but at home I start to search about more information and founded this side:-) I don't think I will be back there tomorrow! Thank you guys :-)

  27. I think stupid people get tricked and smart ones Don t. But in all fairness, the people selling you this stuff work on commission so stop it with the posh bullshit like someone killed you. Most of the people Don t do research when they buy mainstream brands. So why would this be different? Do you actually believe that if you buy creme de la mer for 100 £ is actually worth it? Probably it should more of a rip off because they also advertise and market. And guess what, about 85% of the price of anything sold is marketing costs. I despise people that like to research for anything below £100. They are idiots, cannot make a decision. I can understand if they are buying a house or car, but at the end of the day £100 is not either. If you like the stuff get it and enjoy it. If not, walk away, I m sure they did not have a gun to no one's head.

When I cleaned my face that evening it really stung. I was offered a half price facial well, not exactly offered, he said "I'm going to book you in for a facial" without asking me if I would like one first so I refused. Then he asked me if that was because I couldn't afford it! The truth is that I am not in the habit of wasting my money or my time so I walked out of the shop. 32. This just happened to me TODAY. I was lured in because the salesman was this charming young Israeli guy with a beautiful accent, and I am of Jewish descent, so I was suckered!! He spent like 45 minutes talking at me, making me feel "different" like we had some type of connection or that he cared about me more because I was pregnant, lol, the products seemed to work amazingly well (though I was probably in a sleep and food-deprived trance so my discernment was off), but I kept trying to refuse because we are flat broke! Not to mention he didn't care about suckering a 7-month pregnant woman but actually used it to his advantage! I guess I just assume people have morals and now I know I should never assume that. He even gave me all this BS about how "natural" it was and how I need to protect my baby, etc. Thanks. I kept refusing until the end, but then he said that he had this damaged box that had been the demonstrator one, that he could sell me for only $50, so I got taken in by that since the products did seem to work well and my skin is not the best. But THEN he told me he could get me the same discount on the cleanser (because he likes my energy and I'm Jewish), so now I'm $100 in the hole - that money was going to be used to help us buy new tires!! I want to sell it on Craigslist or Ebay but I don't want anyone else to waste money if these products don't really work. It got 10 out of 11 positive reviews on Amazon of women saying they love it, but could they all be lies? It's like literally watching $100 dollars being flushed down the toilet...I will never be swayed by charm or accents or looks any more!!!! 38. I have been subject to high pressure sale tactics on January 16 at Vine Vera on New Bond Street for a total of £5,500. Any attempt to recover the monies returning the products have not yielded me a refund. Since then I have undergone an extensive investigation and preparing a group litigation case against all UK based cosmetics stores that are linked to Vine Vera: OroGold, Tresor Rare, and others. If you have been subjected to high pressure sales tactics and purchased products that didn't need and want and failed to get full refund, please contact me at shuurik@gmail.com until June 30, 2017. The case will be under Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Act 2008 as merchants above use banned sales tactics as well as under Misrepresentation Act of 1967 for misrepresentations of the products at the time of purchase.

  39. I was duped over the weekend. To the tune of £890. I literally haven't stopped crying since it happened on Saturday afternoon, I have never been ground down like this before, however I have a teething 15 month old and sleep deprivation does very strange things to your mental well being. I am desperate to claw this money back as the guilt and shame has honestly knocked me for six.

    Can anyone help me??

Your very own dedication to passing the message along ended up being extraordinarily advantageous and have in every case enabled ladies much like me to arrive at their objectives. This interesting guideline implies this much to me and even further to my peers. With thanks; from each one of us. buy instagram likes
