HOTSPOT: WA Café

EN

On my final day in London I’ve decided to have another amazing breakfast like last time, but it will be not a full English breakfast.

I made plans to go to WA Café thanks to Miho’s amazing food pictures and recommendations.
I am a foodie, quite adventurous and with no doubt an extreme sweettooth and WA Café will be my place for a good breakfast because it’s a Japanese bakery and patisserie.

With real Japanese bakers!

WA Café is located in Ealing Broadway district of London which is outside of the bustling city center and I got lost. Lost!

And I thought I did my Googlemapping   homework well beforehand and hopped on the tube with confidence and ease that morning. And I got lost. How? Well simply I didn’t got out at Ealing Broadway station but at the Ealing Common station and I thought this is it! I was walking towards my destination (I thought) and it took me 10 minutes to notice I was not on the same road I saw on Googlemap streetview.

But the locals were kind enough to show me the way to WA Café and it made me walk for another 20 minutes but it was all worth it (and nice pre-fat burning too). I was so happy to see the shop sign from distant!

I entered and walked in a clear, modern and minimalistic interior that the café has and my stomach starts to grow even more after seeing the delicious looking buns and pastries behind glass.

My mission: their curry buns.

I was craving them so badly after checking out their website! But the curry buns were nowhere to be found. Turns out I was too early that morning and the curry buns were still in the oven. Oh darn but no worries and hurries because I told myself to wait and eat something else first.

Mijn missie: hun curry broodjes.

Me in the underground that morning. This one is spacious than the Piccadilly Line!

I have ordered
1 Matcha bun with azuki & cream cheese
1 Soufflé cheesecake
1 Curry bun

1 Macchiato coffee

The matcha bun with azuki & cream cheese
I wonder why take away is cheaper than eating in but anyways. The matcha (green tea) bun with azuki (red beans) and cream cheese is delicious! The cream cheese tastes so well with the azuki and because the bun was warmed up, everything kind of melt in together heavenly. And the bread itself was fluffy!

The macchiato coffee
Small and strong!

I also love love love their table ware which shows quality!

The soufflé cheesecake
Basically, I was stretching time so that I can order that curry bun that was still in the oven by the time I finished my matcha bun so I decided to order something else.
I heart cheesecake but never had a soufflé cheesecake before so I was curious about this one.
Turns out it didn't taste much different than my other cheesecake experience, hence it was still melt-in-the-mouth goodness!

The curry bun
At last, the curry bun. It was around 11AM and I was worried I will miss my curry bun because I also needed to catch my train but luckily the curry buns came out the kitchen window just in time and I ordered them as take away. The curry bun was still warm and fragrant and it was like biting into a curry pillow. The filling, the golden crust outside was finger licking good folks and I will definitely return to WA Café for more!

  4. Yummy! The interiors and the products look so pristine and lovely :) I don't know how big the price difference was between take away and eating in, but just from a practicality point of view, it's probably because the store has to factor in the labor costs to wash/clean the dishes and tables.

  5. Looks like you had so much fun in London (and had a ton of great food). And the best part about traveling is that even if you get lost, you still end up sight-seeing as you're finding your way back. :)

Ugh, I can't find a bun like that as easily I used to as my shop that used to sell it doesn't anymore! Oh well, time to start hunting for buns! That was a lovely morning you had for your last day in London!
