HOTSPOT: Giraffe

EN

Did you know that giraffes have the largest hearts of any land mammals? Cool fact!
And that is why the owners named their chain restaurants ‘Giraffe’ and I have eaten my 2-course dinner there.

London is pretty pricey honestly but I still want to eat good food without paying too much and so Giraffe might offer the solution, especially after I happily spotting their ‘Feel Good Menu’: a starter & main for £10.95. Not too shabby for London!

My UK friend W. warned me about the rude city attitude of London. But to be honest I have not experienced one awful situation where people were truly awful with me. Maybe because I looked like a ‘tourist’ and perhaps my short stay in London that leaved no room for me to see the ugly bits of London.

Stepping inside Giraffe is definitely a good bit of my London trip and received a warm welcome by a young friendly waitress. Inside it looked calm and quiet and happy to know I could able to eat my dinner alone with ease.

So again, it’s because of their Feel Good Menu that pulled me in so scroll down to see what I ordered and read the verdict!

 NL

my feel good menu:
1 daily soup
1 salmon & smoked haddock fishcake
1 Moroccan mint tea

Moroccan mint tea served in a Japanese tea pot, unusual :P but nonetheless it was nice and refreshing!

Sauces! I love the many choice and the fact that it's free! I sound odd but I'm from Holland and we don't do free sauces...

So I've picked their daily soup which I think it's pumpkin soup and I don't mind because I love pumpkin soup! But I think the 2 toasted garlic focaccia were the highlight of this dish!
After I finished my starter, a somewhat 15 minute later came my main dish: the 'salmon and smoked haddock fishcake' with chips and tartar sauce. Once I squeezed the lemon I dig in and boy, the fishcake was yummy! It had a subtle smoked taste which I like and I thought the HP sauce was a better match than the tarter sauce (it was ok). The chips was also very nice because it was seasoned c:

  8. I love Giraffe! I have one in my town and they do the best cocktails and nachos there. There's not much in the way of beer I don't as my boyfriend wasn't too impressed with the drinks available, but the food is the best! x

  11. Oh that's good to know that you made sure your short trip was filled with all good things! Yes, I've heard a lot about London being a place where stinky attitudes are common but having a friend there to travel around with definitely helps! Your meal looked great! And that price was definitely a great deal for London! I love fish and fish cakes like that but haven't had one in sooo long! I really need to make some at home! The bread with the soup also looked amazing! Loved my baked bread! :p
