HOTSPOT: Croques

EN

As a wanderlust and a foodie, one of my plans during my UK trip a few weeks back was no doubt: eat UK food and so I did with Croques!

I hear you thinking -
‘How can a restaurant with a French-ish name can have good UK food?’. And to be honest Croques wasn’t our first choice at all but me and my friend W. got recommended to go there by another restaurant (Café Mbriki) after hearing they don’t serve jacket potato that day (broken oven). “You should go to Croques, they got the best in town”.

I was surprised to hear from Café Mbriki who also serves jacket potatoes saying this about other restaurants, their rivals.
But after that we did had to promise to go back to Café Mbriki.
And we kept our promises.
Restaurant review of Café Mbriki later on!

Back to the Croques and the jacket potatoes!

I really wanted to eat jacket potato even it’s just a simple baked potato. Is it embarrassing to say I never really eaten a baked potato?
And it’s probably not even categorized as a real British food either but I’m a carb monster, I can’t help it!

And when there’s something best in town you have to go right. Scroll down and read the verdict.

Apparently they have won a reward for best coffee shop in Leicestershire in the county's tourism awards 2012!
That sounds promising!

We ordered:
- Jacket potato with mozzarella, pesto and tomatoes
- Chicken wrap with nacho's
- 2 latte's

My friends dish.

And here's mine! I thought it was nice.
But it didn't blew me off the chair. But then again it's just a baked potato right, this jacket potato with mozzarella, pesto and tomatoes. The potato itself was baked perfectly and loved the pesto but I wished the mozzarella has completely melted away. Overall a warm rustic homey dish!

This cup is huuuge! Bigger than my face.

Eating outside at the terrace.

  10. Eeeep, baked potatoes are my favorite! They're soooo tasty when loaded up with sour cream, melted cheese (it looks so wrong to see cheese unmelted on a potato!), and bacon. Sitting outside to eat must be nice!
