Ugly Fruit by M i r i m

Something I’ve stumbled across the wonderful WWW and since I’m a sucker for pretty design, I’d like to introduce you: Ugly Fruity!
NL

In de wereld van de WWW kom je zo nu en dan mooie inspirerende dingen tegen en sinds ik een zwakte heb voor mooi design, wil ik aan jullie ‘Ugly Fruit’ voorstellen!

~
"The idea came from the fact that US markets toss out 15 billion dollars worth of fruits and vegetables each year just because they are bruised or discolored. But they are still fresh and edible. I felt there was an opportunity to stop the waste, so Ugly Fruit was born. Ugly Fruit is a stand that makes juice, jams, and dried fruits out of unattractive produce donated from our neighborhood grocery stores. Ugly fruit, pretty yummy!"
art direction: Kelly Holohan, packaging design: Mirim Seo

Even tho this packaging design is just a concept, I truly hope this will enter the market and sell it!

  9. Aha, this is such a creative concept ! It's true though, just because the fruit looks damaged, doesn't mean there's anything wrong with the inside. It's a shame on how much is wasted.
I'm def going to check it out :) Great post!

  24. i'm a sucker for good product packaging design too! sometimes, i like to believe that product design can be one of the path for me to take, with others being web designing and then hopefully animation as well. i'm definitely not good in drawing/illustration and i think and process better when told to...like design a magazine instead of illustrate a book cover.

i used to do a product designing project for typography class too and it was fun. the only not fun thing is the hunting of containers for my product lol. i really love this ugly fruit project; from the concept to the simple design. i think the typography and the bottles used compliment each other that's why the sleek design looks fun and not boring :)
