Food in Process: chai tea latte 2 (VEGAN)

EN

This cold, wet and windy weather right now screams for a hot spicy refreshing drink: chai tea latte. Which happen to be one of my favourite drinks in the world and probably the most ordered type of drink at Starbucks. Well, at least in the winter.

I’ve made this before (this post) and this time I’ve made it vegan by replacing milk with soy milk! If you love drinking soy milk already and as like most Asian kids (including me) who has ‘Vitasoy’ cartons when they were little, you’ll enjoy this vegan chai tea latte!

P.S it tastes even better with a muffin!

NL

Da Recipe: For 2 cups: 250ml water, 250ml soymilk, 2 teabags (Earl Grey),
3 cinnamon stick, 3 fresh ginger slices, 5 anise seeds, 5 cloves, ½ tsppepperballs, 1 tbs. honey,
2 tbs. brown sugar, whipped soy cream, cinnamon powder, nutmeg,

This 'Skinny Lemon Poppy Seed' muffin is YUM!

Da Steps:

1. Get a nice pot/sauce pan and boil the water along the herbs, spices and the fresh ginger for about 5 minutes.
2. Set aside the pan and add the two teabags and let it soak for about 2 hours. Remove the teabags.
From this point your chai tea latte is ready to serve, but if you can, store your brewed goods overnight in a container in the fridge like I did.

3. In a new pan, boil the soy milk, sugar and honey.
4. Get your container of tea ready. Once your milk is boiled, get a sieve and strain the tea over the pan of milk. And boil until its ready.
5. Get your glasses ready! Whip the soy cream until stiff.
6. Pour the chai tea into your favorite glasses for  about 80% and another 20% of cream on top.
7. Finish it with cinnamon and nutmeg powder.

  10. You are my HERO! I am putting this in me recipe book. Dairy makes me sick and I sometimes don't have the time to stop by the cafe. What is better than making it yourself :)
