HOTSPOT 10 - d'Anvers

And summer has officially started today! Too bad
the weather of Holland doesn't do justice: rain.
While 2 days ago we reached 30° degrees!

Last weekend me and my family celebrated Father's Day.
We went to this restaurant 'd'Anvers'. It's a Belgian/French based
cuisine and we decided to try this one out! We arrived there
and the restaurant was packed! Looks like we were not the only one
with the idea to go out eating on Father's Day. A host told us a
table will be free in 20/30 min so we decided to wait and
windowshop around for a bit. A note for myself: always make a
reservation.

So my present for my dad is not so special but its a homemade
snack with loads of love in it. I love making edible presents
for people!

How did you celebrate Father's Day?

This is my present for dad: homemade 'put chai ko' 砵仔糕 (steamed rice pudding with azuki beans) - recipe soonish!

 A cozy retro/vintage interior. I like it c:

They have this vegetarian dish on the menu without mentioning what exactly the dish it will be. A surprise dish!
So since I like surprises and most of the veggies I give it a go: glaced asparagus, carrot, couscous, chicory, corn, onions, bean sprouts and this potato chips with 3 different sauces

This prawn looks like having a breakout issue :P tasted yummy tho!

I think of all the 4 dishes, my bro's 'fish papillotte' had the least look. I mean why the plastic? It tasted good tho.

Dessert, my favorite course!  This yummy dude here: 'lychee sorbet, meringue and rose sauce' . The lychee sorbet tasted SO GOOD. Same with the rose sauce.

I've ordered this 'Panna cotta with rhubarb sorbet, meringue and strawberries'  I liked it alot and what a shame about the deep frozen strawberries, fresh ones were better.

I want this retro-look tin teabox.

  7. The weather is just as temperamental in my part of the UK. Yesterday it was overcast and muggy and today it was so sunny! Can't believe you're still off chicken! Seriously good for you for having the willpower. But yeah I agree about the fish dish - why serve it in plastic wrapping? It's odd!

  27. Ik moet eerlijk zeggen, en da's echt niet omdat ik Belg ben, maar in België is het eigenlijk een uitzondering om slecht te eten op restaurant. Ik heb het nu over de Vlaamse keuken hé. Leuke post! (:
